Halo Wi-Fi setup: the model changes the reconnection method
Halo Select and earlier Halo locks use different reconnection paths. A changed Wi-Fi password does not automatically mean the lock needs a factory reset. Identify the model, network band and security setting before choosing the appropriate instructions.
Check the network the lock can use
Kwikset specifies a visible 2.4GHz network. Halo Select accepts WPA2 or WPA3; the cited instructions for Halo Keypad, Halo Touch and Halo Touch Screen specify WPA2. A working phone connection alone does not establish lock compatibility.
Reconnect a Halo Select
Use Wi-Fi Settings within Lock Settings to choose the new network. Scanning temporarily disconnects the old Wi-Fi connection while Bluetooth access remains available. Kwikset says the previous network is restored after 15 minutes if no replacement connection is made.
Reconnect an earlier Halo
The listed earlier models require the manufacturer's Network Reset procedure after credentials change. Also assess coverage at the door: moving through the house with a phone does not test the lock's exact radio location.
Identify what changed on the network
Record whether you replaced the router, changed the network name, changed its password or altered the security setting. Check the model in the app or on the product label before choosing instructions. Halo Select's reconnection path differs from earlier Halo versions. Keep the supported band and security requirements beside your router settings rather than assuming a phone's connection proves the lock can connect.
Check local entry before troubleshooting remote control
Confirm which functions still work at the door and which fail only from another location. That distinction helps describe a network problem without implying the bolt or keypad has failed.
